dwarf
although this term is still used in medical contexts for individuals whose full adult height is 4'10" or less due to a medical condition, it should be replaced with (when known) precise terminology, for example, someone who has/person with achondroplasia. (There are more than 100 different types of dwarfism.) Rarely does anyone self-identify as a "dwarf." Preferred alternatives include Little Person/little person, short-statured person, person of short stature. See also midget, short.
