success object (man)

if women have traditionally been viewed as sex objects, men have traditionally been viewed as success objects; both roles are artificial, highly limiting, and destructive. For men, economic success is still the crucial criterion of self-worth—witness the bumper sticker "He who dies with the most toys wins." Avoid writing and speaking of men solely in terms of their achievements, finances, possessions, and social rank. This is not to belittle accomplishment, hard work, or success, but to say that men are more than machines that endlessly crank out "product" for the boss, the family, the neighborhood, and the IRS.
