Son of Man (Christ)
the original phrase, translated simply "member of the human race," emphasized the humanity as well as the divinity of Jesus Christ. Christ describes himself often with this phrase, underscoring its profound significance, and those rendering "Son of Man" inclusive will want to express "member of the human race" in a way that is theologically correct, scripturally sound, and acceptable to both congregations and hierarchies. This is a difficult phrase to retranslate, but there are several possibilities: the Incarnate One, the One who became human/flesh, the One made human/flesh, Son/Child of Humanity/Humankind/the People, one like you, one of you. You can also reword, for example: Christ, who was flesh and blood even as you and I are flesh and blood.
