not all words that end in "-man/-men" are sex-linked. For example, a Roman or a German may be either female or male; "amen" comes from Hebrew for "truly" or "certainly"; "dolman" from dolama, a Turkish robe; "ottoman" from French for "Turk"; "talisman" from Greek for "consecration"; "catechumen" from Greek for "someone being instructed"; "tegmen" from Latin for "covering"; "gravamen" from Latin for "burden."
