WMC Unspinning the Spin

Chinese

referring strictly to China, its peoples, languages, and cultures, this is not interchangeable with Chinese American. "Chinese" is used in a number of expressions, some of which are benign (Chinese checkers/puzzle, various plants and vegetables), and some of which are not. Most of the negative expressions have faded from view in the post-World War II years. See also Chinaman, Chinaman's chance, Chinese Restaurant Syndrome.
