Chinaman's chance

a term both racist and sexist that arose from the years when Californians violently opposed the introduction of Chinese labor into the state; the chances of Chinese workers finding jobs were very slim as were their chances of finding justice under the law. Use instead: not a prayer, not an earthly chance, no chance, no chance at all, not a hope in hell, fat/slim chance, a snowball's chance in hell, as much chance as a snowflake in hell, doomed, unlucky, ill-omened, ill-fated, unblessed.
