Black Muslims

Muslims are Muslims; among the followers of Islam there is no color distinction. The members of the Nation of Islam, a 20th-century movement in the U.S. that has little in common with mainstream Islam, have been called Black Muslims, although they have never used the term for themselves (it was coined by the press in the 1950s). Members of the movement have always preferred simply "Muslim." See also: Muslim, Islam.
