WMC Unspinning the Spin

stud (man)

used colloquially to mean someone who is successful with women, this term seems to have found a niche for itself in the language. There is no equivalent for "a woman successful with men" that doesn't emphasize her promiscuity or have a negative spin. He is a stud; she is a slut. The term originated "within communities of color to describe a masculine lesbian. also know as agressive" (One Archives Foundation). See also ladies' man, man about town, playboy, rake, slut, womanizer.
