pow-wow

all too often the word 'pow-wow' is used out of context by writers. For those of us who are American Indian, a pow-wow is a dance and social gathering celebrating our traditions and cultures. It is a beautiful and powerful experience. I am offended by the coopting of the word to describe a nonspiritual dialogue between two people (Pauline Brunette). For alternatives, consider talk, discussion, negotiation, dialogue, conversation, chat, confab, conference, parley, meeting.
