prattle

prattle and most alternatives (babble, jabber, etc.) are used of women and children, and rarely of men. Examine your material to see if by choosing the word you are making a subtle statement about women. For more inclusive-sounding alternatives, use rattle, rattle away, ramble, blabber, blather, spout, spout off, run off at the mouth, talk nonsense, talk through one's hat, talk idly, shoot the breeze, make chin music, bend someone's ear.
