Nayda Bobonis Cabrera
Bio:
Nayda Bobonis Cabrera is a lawyer and community leader in Puerto Rico. As a teenager, she became active with a youth committee working with what are known as the “G8” communities of Caño Martín Peña, an area affected by persistent flooding and contaminated waters. At 23, she became president of the community board of Buena Vista Hato Rey, making her the youngest person in that role to form part of the leadership of G8.
Since 2019, Nayda has worked as the Public Policy and Advocacy Coordinator for the nonprofit Firmes, Unidos y Resilientes con la Abogacía (FURIA Inc., Firm, United and Resilient through Advocacy), which supports and amplifies the voices and initiatives of grassroots leaders fighting for affordable housing and the well-being of communities. Her work in this space includes holding local public entities accountable for the implementation of policies initiated by community movements.
Nayda collaborates with several professional organizations including a commission of young lawyers and Mentes Puertorriqueñas en Acción (Puerto Rican Minds in Action).
Nayda earned her JD at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law.
