Rochelle Davidson Mhonde, Ph.D.

Bio:

Dr. Rochelle Davidson Mhonde, an assistant professor in the Department of Global and Community Health at George Mason University, is dedicated to applying scientific evidence to end all forms of violence against women and children. Her work prioritizes community partnerships to develop community-level interventions that reduce the disparities and inequitable experiences related to sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and mental health of racially minoritized adolescents and young adults, as well as other intersecting communities, including immigrants, in the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region. Her current research (manuscripts under review) provides the exploratory data for applied health communication interventions to eradicate misinformation and stigmatization related to sexual trauma, HIV/AIDS, and mental health, particularly in family settings. Her primary methodical approach is mixed methods, allowing for comprehensive explanatory data about underresearched topics and communities using an Intersectionality and health equity lens. Rochelle has also been a project manager and consultant for health policy and campaigns in South Africa related to gender-based violence and HIV/AIDS.
