Lupe Davidson
Bio:
Dr. Maria del Guadalupe (Lupe) Davidson is Associate Dean for Faculty, Provost Fellow, and Woodburn Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University. The 2022 recipient of the Julia T. Wood Teacher/Scholar Award from the Pennsylvania Communication Association, Dr. Davidson’s main field of research is black feminism where she is known for her work on bell hooks, Kara Walker, and her analysis of black women and agency. Dr. Davidson is the author of Black Women, Agency, and the New Black Feminism (Routledge 2017).
As we approach what would have been Toni Morrison’s 92nd birthday, the author reckons with the deep impact of Morrison and her work, and living with the loss of this towering literary and cultural presence.
