Magdalena Rojo
Bio:
Magdalena Rojo is a Slovak freelance journalist who covers human rights with focus on women and Indigenous people, and global issues, such as migration and climate change. She is a co-founder of the global project Women Who Stay that brings a different perspective on migration – the perspective of women left behind after men migrate. Her work has been published in international media, such as Mongabay,Yes! Magazine, Deutsche Welle, Religion News Service, Outriders, and Southeast Asia Globe.
A network of 47 midwives across Mexico is stepping in to provide essential prenatal care to pregnant migrants along their journey north.
As men migrate north to the United States in search of better lives for their families, the women left behind are taking on many new community responsibilities once occupied by their husbands.
