The Women's Media Center Honors America Ferrera, Liz Rebecca Alarcón, Yamiche Alcindor, Donna Deitch, Rahna Epting, Jenice Fountain, Chicken & Egg Pictures

New York, New York — September 20th, 2024 — THE WOMEN’S MEDIA CENTER hosted their 2024 WOMEN’S MEDIA AWARDS on September 19th at the JW Marriott Essex House Hotel in New York City.
The WMC AWARDS were presented to outstanding leaders and champions for women in media. This year’s WMC 2024 Women’s Media Awards honorees were: America Ferrera, Liz Rebecca Alarcón, Yamiche Alcindor, Donna Deitch, Rahna Epting, Jenice Fountain, and Chicken & Egg Pictures.
WOMEN’S MEDIA CENTER Co-Founders Jane Fonda, Robin Morgan, Gloria Steinem, and WMC President & CEO Julie Burton appeared at the gala. WMC Board Chair Janet Dewart Bell, WMC Board Co-Chair Emerita Pat Mitchell, WMC Board Vice Chair Erica González Martínez, and former WMC President Carol Jenkins also made appearances at the gala.
The WOMEN’S MEDIA CENTER 2024 Women’s Media Award Honorees were:
- America Ferrera, Emmy winning, Oscar nominated actor, director, producer, and activist, received the first WMC Gloria Steinem Visible and Powerful Award.
- Yamiche Alcindor, NBC News Washington correspondent, received the WMC Carol Jenkins Award.
- Donna Deitch, film director, writer, producer, Emmy winning director, and activist, received the WMC Ahead of Her Time Award.
- Liz Rebecca Alarcón, Founder & CEO, Pulso, received the WMC Progressive Women’s Voices Impact Award.
- Rahna Epting, Executive Director, MoveOn, received the WMC Progressive Women’s Voices IMPACT Award.
- Jenice Fountain, Executive Director, Yellowhammer Fund, received the WMC Progressive Women’s Voices IMPACT Award.
- Chicken & Egg Pictures, which awards grants and provides creative mentorship to filmmakers from around the world, received the WMC Pat Mitchell Lifetime Achievement Award. Accepting the award were Chicken & Egg Pictures Co-Founders Wendy Ettinger, Judith Helfand, and CEO Jenni Wolfson.

Our Women’s Media Awards honor champions for women who set the standard for what media should look like when it gives voice to the female half of the country. They are role models, history-makers, and inspiring leaders,” said Julie Burton, President & CEO of the WOMEN’S MEDIA CENTER.
