Esther Warkov, Ph.D.
Bio:
Esther Warkov, Ph.D., is a writer, ethnomusicologist, and Cofounder of Stop Sexual Assault in Schools. She graduated from the University of California, University of Wales (Fulbright), and Hebrew University (Ph.D.), and is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts award. Her research, writings, reviews, and recordings of Arabic, Irish, and Welsh music are featured in books, journals, The Forward, foreign print media, and posted on websites. Her perspectives are featured in Ms., WA Post, NY Times, WMC, Ed Post, The 74 Million, Jewish Women’s Archives, among others. Creator of the #MeTooK12 and #MisogynyFreeSchools campaigns, she also writes resources on sexual violence prevention.
The federal Office for Civil Rights has closed offices, abandoned many Title IX complainants, and opened investigations that align with the current administration’s political priorities. Students in need of redress must turn to alternative routes to demand accountability.
