Popularity is genetic?

Remember that post I did about the relationship between popularity in high school and success in life? Well, guess what folks, the anonymous "researchers" are at it again, trying to prove hat popularity is about 30% genetic.

I'm sorry, WHAT? The only way I can see this being true is if:

a) your mom was popular and trying to relive the peak of her life, which was high school, pushed you into things like cheerleading and other building blocks of "popularity" and they worked

b) your parents are pretty, you are pretty, and because of society's emphasis on beauty, you are popular

The rest, I'm going to say, is pretty much up to chance and who you are as a person.

Jezebel wrote about this study. My favorite comment was by a user called "Uncommon Whore" who, questioning the study's findings that 30% of popularity is genetic, asked: "So is the other 70% willingness to put out?"

Finally, logic!

And just one more time...WHO IS PAYING FOR THESE STUDIES WHEN THINGS LIKE CANCER STILL EXIST? PRIORITIES???
