Chicago Girls Rock

It's no surprise that I love music and especially take great interest in promoting women in the music industry. So when I got this email about an upcoming event in Chicago (I wish I could go!) I knew I had to share it with everybody. It's nice to see people making an effort to promote more female bands!

Chicago is the home of many things including deep dish pizza, the tallest skyscraper in the United States and being dubbed "the city of big shoulders", but what about music? You might think of blues, but now you can now add Chicago Girls Rock!

Chicago Girls Rock is a super fabulous mega show with 7 female fronted bands (classic rock, hard rock and progressive rock) at the Portage Theater. The bands are High Gloss Black, SAGE4, F.H.O.D., Whiskey Blonde, Losing Scarlet, The Hannah Ford Band and Deadmanswake. Chicago Girls Rock is a branding title for upcoming concerts and events that will showcase the talents of amazing female musicians that are based around Chicagoland. In today's music industry, women dominate pop and R&B charts, but when it comes to rock its still "a man's world". This is what Chicago Girls Rock is striving to change.

The first installment of this movement to empower women in rock will be the DAME-NATION event coming up Saturday February 20th, 2010. DAME-NATION is shaping up to send a very powerful message to the music industry featuring 7 bands, 8 females (mostly singers) and tons of talent. The musical styles range from rock to metal.

The DAME-NATION event will flaunt a complete line-up of hot local artists such as High Gloss Black, SAGE4, F.H.O.D., Whiskey Blonde, Deadmanswake, The Hannah Ford Band and Losing Scarlet. The event will also feature tame performances by the illustrious Painkurst Girls!

Each band features stunning and talented vocalists. Losing Scarlet features both Jodi Kell on vocals and Petra Sith on bass guitar. The others are like a who's who of female based Chicago rock: Jessica Robinson (finalist on CBS ROCKSTAR: INXS) from High Gloss Black, Tracey Sage from SAGE4, Kimm a.k.a. K.K. from F.H.O.D., Brooke Bartlett from Whiskey Blonde and Kryssie Ridolfi from Deadmanswake. The Hannah Band features the young drumming prodigy Hannah Ford herself on drums AND vocals! All around this group of bands have some of the most musically inclined women in not only Chicago but the United States!

DAME-NATION will take place at the historic Portage Theater in the heart of the "six corners" on Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago, IL. Tickets will only be $15 up until the day of the event and then $20 on the day of the show so there is incentive to purchase ahead of time. The Portage Theater seats about 1320 fans so show up early to claim the best seat in the house!

In addition to the impressive line-up of talent there will also be an area to shop for rock related merchandise including shirts, accessories, cd's, stickers and more! Remember this is an eight hour event and will be nothing short of spectacular!

Join ChicagoGirlsRock.com in supporting and recognizing these bands for their hard work and dedication to artistic integrity! Many of these bands have been playing the circuits for many years waiting to be exposed to the masses on a grand stage such as this!

This will hopefully stick it to the other promoters, media and others that think that only guys can have successful bands.
