As President Obama departs for his trip to East Asia, we SPOTLIGHT East Asia and Japan expert Yuki Tatsumi. Tatsumi has served as senior associate in the East Asia program at the Stimson Center since 2008. She is co-author of Global Security Watch: Japan and author of Japan's National Security Policy Infrastructure: Can Tokyo Meet Washington's Expectations? . She previously served as the special assistant for political affairs at the Embassy of Japan in Washington and as research associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Anderson directed all International Terrorism investigations of the New York Joint Terrorism Task Force, in the US, Africa, and Western Europe, overseeing the disruption of significant terrorist plots. She was one of the first woman selected for an FBI SWAT team and the first woman to lead the FBI’s office in the American Embassy in Paris.

She founded Break the Chains: Communities of Color and the War on Drugs to help build a movement in communities of color in support of drug policy reform with the goal of replacing our failed drug polices with alternatives based on science, compassion, public health and human rights.
