Bio:
Rosalind C. Barnett, Ph.D is a prize-winning research psychologist, prolific author and frequent keynote speaker. She holds the Ph.D. from Harvard University. Her research has been sponsored by major federal and private-foundation grants, and her work appears in top journals as well as in the popular press. She is the author of ten books, over 110 peer-reviewed articles, and 40 chapters. She has also authored many popular articles in such publications as the New York Times Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, Huffington Post, the Daily Beast, womensenews, among others. One of her recent book, The New Soft War on Women (with Caryl Rivers), was selected as a top ten pick by Oprah Magazine and has been featured in major articles by the Boston Globe and Fast Company. Opeds based on the book have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, and the Dallas Morning News. Her most recent book, The Age of Longevity: Reimaging Tomorrow for our New Long Lives, received high praise. She has been interviewed on On Point (WNPR), Radio Boston (WBUR), and Here and Now (WBUR). Dr. Barnett co-authors the blog, A Woman’s Place, on Psychology Today’s website.
Dr. Barnett is often invited to lecture at major venues here and abroad. She has been a key note speaker at conferences in such countries as Canada, Portugal, U.K., Grand Canary Islands, Hungary, Greece, Ireland, as well as various cities throughout the U.S.
Dr. Barnett has held senior research positions at the Murray Research Center at Harvard University, the Wellesley College Centers for Women, and the Women’s Studies Research Center at Brandeis University.
Dr. Barnett is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and has received numerous awards. She is the recipient of the American Personnel and Guidance Association’s Annual Award for Outstanding Research, and the Radcliffe College Graduate Society Distinguished Achievement Medal in l988. She won the Best Paper Award from Journal of Organizational Behavior (1997), and received an ANBAR, Citation of Excellence (1997); in 1999 she received the Goldsmith Research Award from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (1999); in 2010 and 2011, Dr. Barnett and her tong-time writing colleague, Caryl Rivers, received honorable mention from the Anne E. Casey Foundation for their writings on children and families. In 2008, she was awarded the Anne Roe award from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in recognition of her important research on women. She is a 2013 recipient of the Work Life Legacy Award from the Families and Work Institute in New York. In 2017, Dr. Barnett was identified as one of the 25 leading work-family researchers in the world, by Brigham Young University. And, in 2018, she was recognized as a “Top Ten Extraordinary Contributor to Work and Family Research” by the Work and Family Research Network.
