Riya Janardhan
Bio:
Riya is a rising Junior in high school. Her interests include writing, acting, dancing, and singing. She is a black belt in taekwondo and has participated in many regional and national level competitions, winning medals for her division. Riya is a Junior Board Member/Vice-Chair of the Promotions Committee at Project ADAM and is a Young Ambassador with Inspiring Girls USA. In addition to writing for FBomb, her work has appeared in Teen Ink and UNICEF’s Voice of Youth.
In early January, the City of St. Paul, Minnesota, made history when a young, diverse, all-women team was sworn into seven city council seats.

It is critical to encourage high schoolers to study public policy, work for the government, or run for office to improve women’s education, health, and rights.
The tournament was not only a financial success, but also a success in terms of advancing gender equality globally.
The “gender gap” refers to the roughly 3.9 billion women on our planet who do not have the same access to education, health care, economic opportunities, or political empowerment as their male counterparts.
When this day eventually advances to December 31st of the previous year, we will know that the barriers for women to advance in their careers have been mostly removed, disparities have been reduced, and parity in pay has finally been achieved.
