Antonina Vikhrest
Bio:
Antonina Vikhrest is a human rights advocate who recently completed a Fulbright fellowship researching women’s access to justice in Ukraine. She received her master’s in international law of human rights and criminal justice from the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights in 2011, where she worked with the human rights law clinic on cases before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and the International Criminal Court. She has advocated for and monitored human rights in Ukraine, the United States, Mexico, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and France.
The conflict in eastern Ukraine, now in its 10th month, has taken a heavy toll on the country’s population. Wide-ranging violations of international humanitarian law have been documented on both sides of the conflict, following clashes between Russian-backed rebels and the Ukrainian government forces in the eastern regions of the country.
