Diablo Cody

I love Diablo Cody. Everyone has an opinion on Juno- considering the whole teen pregnancy thing. I've heard everything from how implausible it is for a teenager in Juno's situation to be that smart (because Midwestern public school girls are incapable of being intelligent and interested in classic rock? Kay) to how Juno generally portrayed teenage girls negatively, and how we deserve a story about our successes not the "failure" of pregnancy.

I have my opinions, and because I actually am a teenage girl, they're different. Mostly I'm just able to enjoy that movie for its amazing humor and not over-analyze it. It doesn't make me want to go out and have a baby nor does it make me feel oppressed. I was happy to see a movie about a girl I could relate to and actually admired. That's what I took away from it, and that's why I've seen it about 25 times.

Here's Diablo's blog: http://blog.myspace.com/diablocody

I especially like the September 18th one where she rails on people for saying she doesn't deserve the awards and attention she's gotten because she's not some old white guy writing about Very Serious Issues. And thank god she's not. If I have to see one more of these trailers with the Very Serious Music and the Very Serious Lighting that takes itself Very Seriously I'm gonna throw up.
