U.S. Speaker Program at the Department of State in Brazil
Cristal Williams Chancellor, WMC’s Director of Communications, recently spent a week in Brazil speaking to journalists, university students and community groups about the achievements and challenges for women in U.S. media and around the globe.
Her visit to Brasilia, Salvador and Rio de Janeiro April 23-28 was part of the U.S. Speaker Program at the Department of State. Other topics included press freedom, online violence, leadership and gender and racial equality.
Williams Chancellor also discussed diversity and inclusion with representatives from the consulate general’s office, Brazilian Senate and women’s studies departments.
The Brazil visit was the second for Williams Chancellor under the speaker program. In 2018, she spent a week in India visiting Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.
