Susan Henking is the 14th president of Shimer College, the first woman since its founding in 1853. A scholar of American religion, with 25+ years of experience in higher education, she writes on religion and LGBTQ studies and the history of the social sciences, has a food blog and was co-founder of the first undergraduate major in LGBT Studies at a liberal arts college. She participates in CampusWomen Lead, working toward multicultural leadership in higher education. The co-editor of 2 books (Queerying Religion and Mourning Religion), Susan has written many articles and given numerous talks. She was founding series editor of the Teaching Religious Studies series of the American Academy of Religion and served on the AAR board for almost a decade.
