Bio

Stephanie Loraine is an award winning reproductive justice advocate, abortion storyteller, clinical social worker, columnist, radio producer, and host, born in Puerto Rico, now residing in Central Florida.

She is the Executive Director of Florida Access Network (formerly Central Florida Women’s Emergency Fund), an abortion fund dedicated to providing financial support and advocacy to Floridians seeking abortion care. Stephanie has been a part of the FAN family since 2015 going from Volunteer to Board President until becoming one of FAN’s first staff members in 2020. Through her leadership, the fund expanded its service area to include Puerto Rico in order to support people needing abortions in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

Stephanie is a dedicated advocate for abortion access especially in the Latinx community due to navigating machismo and toxic masculinity her whole life. Sharing her abortion story is especially important for people whose families, churches, partners, political parties have shamed them for choosing to exercise their right to bodily autonomy.

In 2019, she was awarded the 120 Under 40 award by the Bill & Melinda Gates Institute which recognizes and highlights the achievements of the next generation of family planning leaders worldwide. She’s also the Producer and Co-Host of Jevas Combativas; the only Spanish-language Feminist Commercial Radio Show in the United States.

She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with her Masters of Social Work and undergraduate degrees in Sociology and Criminal Justice from the University of North Florida. She has worked in the nonprofit sector as a clinical social worker dedicated to empowering the community through mental health counseling and psychosocial education.

In her free time she enjoys cooking and eating Puerto Rican food, binge-watching crime series and reading on the beach.
