Currently, I am the Chair of the Strategy and Entrepreneurship Department at the Sy Syms School of Business at Yeshiva University as well as Associate Professor. Having spent the greater part of the last fifteen years studying economics and policy at Cornell University, The London School of Economics, and the University of California Berkeley. More generally, I am interested in understanding how financing affects industrial growth in emerging markets and my research follows this, intersecting finance, firm strategy, and development. I examine how major policies (like bailouts) as well as major insitutional changes (such as democratization) affect the banking sector and private sector firm innovation and performance. My research has been published in several leading peer-reviewed journals and garnered research awards at major conferences.
In my public work, I am interested in uncovering the fallacies told to the general public regarding economics, policy, and social issues, using a truly independent lens based on economics, not groupthink. I expose these in my columns, which are featured on the Hill, Forbes, the Wall Street Journal, and Fox News, among other outlets. I have also commnented on economic issues on major international and national radio and television programs including several programs on Bloomberg Radio, Voice of America, and Fox News. My economic take on a woman’s choice to work was also fetaured in Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg, and I frequently write and talk about this issue.
