Sarah E. Spires is a partner at Skiermont Derby LLP, a patent litigation boutique in Dallas, Texas. Prior to joining Skiermont Derby, Sarah practiced at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in Dallas, Texas, as well as at Morrison & Foerster LLP in both San Diego, California and Tokyo, Japan. Sarah holds an undergraduate degree in biology from MIT, and a law degree from the University of California at Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law. Sarah’s technical background includes conducting cell cycle research at MIT’s David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research. She is licensed to practice in Texas, California, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and focuses her practice on patent infringement litigation and inter partes reviews, particularly in the life science and biotechnology areas. Recently, Sarah has served as lead counsel for 15 inter partes reviews challenging branded pharmaceutical patents covering drugs such as Alimta® (Eli Lilly), Revlimid® (Celgene), and Bravecto® (Merck), and has tried multiple cases to successful verdicts in jury and bench trials throughout the country, and arbitration proceedings throughout the world. She is also a frequent speaker at intellectual property law conferences and State Bar Association presentations.
