Margie Omero

Margie Omero is a Principal at the Democratic polling firm GBAO with nearly 30 years of experience providing strategic advice and qualitative and quantitative research to candidates, organizations, and brands. She’s led polling efforts for Governors and US Senators, studied some of the most challenging public opinion topics, and is a frequent speaker and commentator. A nationally recognized focus group moderator, Omero is known for her work for Navigator Research, the New York Times Opinion Page, and AARP.

In 2024, Omero worked with Senator Ruben Gallego (AZ), and in 2022 she was named Democratic Pollster of the Year for her and the firm’s body of work. She’s worked with Governors Tony Evers (WI) and Laura Kelly (KS), for Susan Crawford in the 2025 State Supreme Court race in Wisconsin, and with the DSCC on behalf of Senators Patty Murray (WA) and Michael Bennet (CO).

Omero’s other clients have included AARP, Third Way, Groundwork Collaborative, DCCC, DLCC, DNC, EMILY’s List, Planned Parenthood, AFL-CIO, Center for American Progress, Everytown for Gun Safety, and Brady PAC. Her work has explored some of the country’s most pressing topics, such as health care, caregiving, the MAHA movement, race, abortion rights, immigration, economic policy, climate change, corporate accountability, voting and participation, guns, aid in dying, and the January 6th riots.

Omero also leads and moderates the monthly focus group series America in Focus for the New York Times Opinion Pages—speaking to audiences across the country such as tweens, college students, parents of high school students, transgender adults, American Jews, GLP-1 users, heavy TikTok users, and even fans of the show Yellowstone. And she co-leads the Navigator Research team—an ongoing regular investigation into public opinion of the country’s top issues—such as democratic reforms, “Trump regret,” news consumption, and the economy. A frequent writer, commentator, and speaker, Omero has appeared on ABC’s “This Week,” NPR’s “Morning Edition,” and MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” and in other major news outlets. She’s spoken to corporations, large conferences, Congressional Committees, and the entire Democratic House Caucus. Omero was the creator and co-host of The Pollsters podcast, covering the polls driving news in politics, tech, entertainment, and pop culture. She was named one of “50 Politicos to Watch” by Politico.

Omero graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, with High Honors and Special Honors in the University honors program, writing her honors thesis using longitudinal survey data. She is professionally and academically trained in statistics and sampling and has led over a thousand qualitative sessions and focus groups. She lives in Takoma Park, Maryland.
