Lori Sokol, Ph.D. is an organizational psychologist, author, radio show host and magazine publisher.
Dr. Sokol’s work is primarily centered on empowering individuals by maximizing their potential despite societal limits placed upon them due to gender, particularly on the subjects of work/life balance and LGBT equality. She is the host of the weekly radio show, ‘Work Life Matters with Dr. Lori Sokol,’ on 1490AM WGCH, publisher of Work Life Matters magazine, and co- author of Flex Primer for the New Future of Work (2011). She also consults to corporations, groups and individuals to help them better balance their personal and career responsibilities, as well as how to create a more LGBT-friendly workplace.
Dr. Sokol is also a published writer on these issues in major market publications. Her work has been published in the op-ed pages of the Baltimore Sun, The New York Times Business blog, Slate.com, and the Huffington Post. She has also been interviewed on a variety of television news programs including MSNBC, CNBC, and WPIX. In 2016, she was appointed Executive Director of Women's eNews, an international, daily news service that provides cutting-edge news by women, for women, throughout the world. Dr. Sokol is a former Chairman of the Board of Women’s eNews, and President of Sokol Media, LLC, the publisher of a variety of business publications that advocate for diversity in the workplace.
Academically, she has published research articles on ‘Psychology and the Media’ in a variety of academic journals, taught a seminar on Media Psychology at the University of Beijing, China, and served as an Adjunct Professor in the Psychology Department at Montclair State University in New Jersey, where she taught the course, ‘Psychology of Women.’ Dr. Sokol has also contributed her media knowledge and research as a member of the Corporate Voices for Working Families’ Best of Congress Media Committee, and served as the U.S. Representative to the Asian Women’s Entrepreneur Council.
