Born and raised in the Bronx, Jessica is an experienced, dedicated and creative storyteller and advocate. She served as NYC Press Secretary for U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, as the Communications Director at the NYC Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, was campaigns press secretary/speechwriter at UFCW International, and worked for the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. She cut her teeth in progressive politics as a researcher at Media Matters for America. She is currently working for NARAL Pro-Choice America to help deliver a world where freedom for every body is honored and respected.
At the height of the pandemic, Jessica started Kingsbridge Unidos: a volunteer-run, mutual aid effort to deliver nearly 40,000 pounds of fresh produce, in addition to thousands of masks, and valuable bilingual information about COVID-19 and more, to families in the community that raised her.
She also previously ran for New York State Assembly against a nearly 30 year incumbent in the Bronx.
Her work has been featured by Los Angeles Times, Remezcla, La Opinion, Refinery29, Elite Daily, AfroPunk, Huffington Post, Bustle, Washington Post, New York Times, and Women's Health among others. Jessica previously served on the Board of Directors for Pay Our Interns, Free Speech TV, and Students Active For Ending Rape (SAFER).
Jessica received a B.A. from Williams College in History with a concentration in Africana Studies and is a proud PREP9 alumna.
Jessica is a mom, a caregiver, a mutual aid organizer, and proud Dominicana.
