Greta Rico is Director of Communications and Public Relations at Morada Violeta - the only Midwifery House in Mexico City that provides women's health care with a feminist approach.
Greta is also a Mexican documentary photographer who is focused on issues related to gender and human rights. Her work has been published in magazines, print and digital media such as The Guardian, The HuffPost, Luchadoras, El Universal, Milenio, and Lado B among others. She has collaborated with UN Human Rights offices and with various with various civil society organizations with impact globally, regional in Latin America and local in Mexico. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in various regions of Mexico and in cities such as N.Y., Tehran, Isfahan, Rome, Guayaquil, Kota Kinabalú and London.

Specialists in sexual and reproductive health say that gynecological violence is a form of violence with many varied expressions, from unnecessary procedures, the pathologization of physiological processes, medical misinformation and maltreatment, aggressive practices that provoke harm and injuries, and even inappropriate and violating comments like those that both women heard — all of which are experienced during gynecological care beyond pregnancy, childbirth, and puerperium.
