Erica Curtis, LMFT, ATR-BC, is a practitioner, award-winning author, consultant, and educator in the fields of art therapy and marriage and family therapy. A Board Certified Art Therapist and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Erica has over 20 years experience in creative approaches to health and well-being, parenting and family matters, special education, phase of life issues, and mental health issues. Her work uniquely combines scientifically grounded theory and practice with creativity.

Erica is author, with Ping Ho, of "The Innovative Parent: Raising Connected, Happy, Successful Kids through Art." She consults for Loyola Marymount University's department of Marriage and Family Therapy, The Foundation for Art & Healing, and the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences. She served 6 years on the board of directors of the American Art Therapy Association, and is a program advisor and core faculty for UCLArts & Healing.


Erica was formerly clinical director at a widely respected non-profit agency, The Help Group, is past president of the Southern California Art Therapy Association, and has lectured widely for institutions and organizations including USC, UCLA, UCSD, and Kaiser Permanente. Erica has been used as an expert source for over 100 articles appearing in USA Today, Boston Globe, Cosmo, Life Hacker, EHow Family, Shine from Yahoo!, and Women’s World Magazine, to name a few.

Erica has specialized training in Trauma Resiliency Model, Behavioral Intervention, Disaster Mental Health, Mindful Based Stress Reduction, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Gottman Couples Therapy, and Collaborative Family Law. She has written several articles, is published in the Journal of Clinical Art Therapy. Erica is a mother of three.
