Bio

Dr. Margaret M. Minson is the President of Bishop Kearney High Schoo, an all girls Catholic school in Brooklyn, NY that focuses on preparing young women of faith to enter college with definite career goals and become aware of being women who serve others. She was formerly the Executive Director of Student Sponsor Partners, a not for profit organization whose mission is to offer at-risk New York City students the opportunity to attend non-public high schools. She is an expert in education and mentorship.

Dr. Margaret Minson is a firm believer in the power of an education and the power of mentoring. At Student Sponsor Partners she has stressed providing quality enrichment activities for students, focusing on the students’ individual academic and personal development. While earning her Doctorate in Education at Fordham University, Dr. Minson wrote her dissertation on mentor satisfaction and its impact on volunteerism. Not only is she concerned about the students’ experience, but the mentors as well. Her hope was that an increased understanding of mentoring would reduce the numbers of mentors who were dissatisfied and increase the number of individuals who have successful mentoring experiences. She has implemented her research within Student Sponsor Partners and has helped increase the number of successful mentorships.

Dr. Margaret Minson has proven to be an innovative fundraiser. Since becoming the SSP Executive Director in 2007, she has secured two $1,000,000 anonymous gifts, increased foundation giving by more than $700,000.

Prior to leading SSP, Dr. Margaret M. Minson served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Marymount Manhattan College, where she structured the most successful Capital Campaign in the College’s history, as well as the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Director of Alumni Relations at St. Joseph’s College. She is on the board of the Catholic Guardian Society and Home Bureau, is a trustee at Loyola School and is involved at New York Women in Communications Inc. and Women in Development.
