I am a clinical and forensic psychologist and private investigator who specializes in criminal forensic work including violence risk assessments for the Board of Parole and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. I also conduct insanity, competency to stand trial, and mitigation evaluations for criminal defendants. I formerly worked on the crisis and assessment units in a medium/maximum security prison and have experience working with both male and female offenders. I have a special interest in female offenders, criminal poisoners, and serial killers.
I have a doctorate in clinical psychology from Florida Institute of Technology and, in 1999, was named their Alumni of the year. I have taught forensic psychology courses for two criminal justice master's programs. I also have a special interest in communicating mental health information to the public, particularly as it relates to forensic psychology. I have written a law and psychology blog for Psychology Today since 2010, have authored two books including The Complete Idiot's Guide to Psychology, cohost a forensic radio show (Thread of Evidence) and have a true crime youtube channel.
