An antitrust lawyer for 25 years in large law firms in Brussels, Anne launched the Brussels Bureau of the DC-based specialist antitrust investigatory news service The Capitol Forum in 2018, to report on EU regulatory risk in international transactions.
Over the course of her career, Anne has acted for merging companies, third party interveners, and event-driven merger arb hedge fund investors in a series of high-profile global deals, including Deutsche Boerse/NYSE Euronext, UPS/TNT Express, FedEx/TNT Express, and Bayer/Monsanto. She has significant experience in EU and multijurisdictional merger control, and is adept at explaining both substantive competition problems as well as timing considerations in regulatory reviews of pending transactions.
In 2007-08 she established the European merger reporting unit at MLex, a news service in Brussels, in a stint away from private practice.
Anne holds a B.A./LL.B (Hons) from the Australian National University in Canberra, and an LL.M. from Hamburg University, and has lectured on European merger control at universities in Europe and India.
Anne has often been quoted in the print media on competition matters over the years (WSJ, Global Competition Review, Bloomberg, Reuters) and has appeared on TV, e.g. on Euronews in July 2018 when Google was fined $5bn by the European Commission for abuse of dominance in Android. Her numerous publications are listed on her Linked In profile. She is also on the editorial board for the Sweet & Maxwell journal International Trade Law & Regulation.
