Bio

Angela D. Coleman is an award-winning educational philanthropist and published author.

Ms. Coleman grew up in Newark, New Jersey. At Columbia High School, she was Team Captain in basketball and track and field. Ms. Coleman competed in the heptathlon, hurdles, and long jump as a member of Princeton¹s Track & Field team. Throughout high school and college, she worked part-time as a model in New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. A hardworking student, she graduated a cum laude from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology and a minor in African American Studies.

After graduating from Princeton, Ms. Coleman wanted to do more than research the problems that plagued her and her sisters. Inspired to do something, she mentored pregnant teenagers and young girls in the community, traveled the globe, and founded Sisterhood Agenda. Since its creation in 1994, Ms. Coleman has served as the organization¹s President.

In 1998, Ms. Coleman created the for-profit company, Sisterhood Agenda Enterprises, LLC, to become a model of self-determination and self-sufficiency. She continues to work as a consultant and trainer with this company.

To take her business to the next level, Ms. Coleman earned a a Nonprofit Management Certificate from Duke University in 2001 and a Masters in Business (MBA) from the University of Phoenix in 2003. A health scare during her studies was a turning point for Ms. Coleman and she was inspired to change her lifestyle and work style.

As part of her developing spirituality, Ms. Coleman attended classes, seminars, and workshops related to holistic health and natural well-being. As a result, she gained knowledge about the root causes and manifestations of personal and social issues. Shortly thereafter, she earned additional certificates from the Institute of African Holistic Medicine & Science and The North Carolina Board of Natural Hair Care & Holistic Science.

Recognized for the national and global scale of her work, Ms. Coleman became an Ashoka Fellow. As President of Sisterhood Agenda for over 18 years, she established partnerships all over the world including those in the U.S., Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and India.

Ms. Coleman currently resides in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands where she enjoys consulting, training, writing, exercising, listening to music, traveling and swimming in the ocean.
