Bio

Amy Pohl, JD, has been working in the field of domestic violence advocacy for the past decade in a variety of capacities: as both a direct service provider for victims and at the systems advocacy level. During law school, she served as Director of the Domestic Violence Legal Assistance Clinic. As a Staff Attorney for the Wyoming Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, she represented victims of domestic violence in civil cases. During that time, she developed and conducted trainings and provided legal technical assistance for professionals throughout Wyoming. She educated judges, attorneys, domestic violence advocates, law enforcement officers, nursing and counseling students, and various other groups about issues related to relationship violence, sexual assault, and stalking. As Associate Director for the Center for Relationship Abuse Awareness in Palo Alto, California, she co-taught a course on Violence Against Women for Stanford University’s Gender Studies Department, an innovative class that examined the theories behind prevention of, and response to, relationship abuse in this country and throughout the world. She also worked with student groups to raise awareness about dating violence and sexual abuse on campus and bystander intervention. Amy has been a part of the staff at CCADV for 2 years, where she works to call attention to the issue of domestic violence in Colorado and highlights and supports the work of domestic violence advocacy organizations around the state.
