Amanda Poppei serves as Senior Leader at the Washington Ethical Society, a 400-person humanist congregation in Washington, DC. A graduate of Yale University (with distinction in Religious Studies) and Wesley Theological Seminary (cum laude), Amanda has expertise in religious studies, ethics, humanism, feminism, and social justice work. She has held city-wide leadership with DC Clergy United (for marriage equality) and the Washington Interfaith Network, and is a member of Faith Strategies. Amanda also serves on the board of the UU Humanist Association, and has a chapter included in “Humanist Voices in Unitarian Universalism.” A skilled public speaker, Amanda delivers addresses 2-3 times monthly in her own congregation and has spoken across the country on topics ranging from anti-oppression to the intersection of religious faith and humanism.
