Bio

Bonk is the Founder and CEO of Business for America (BFA), a nonpartisan, nonprofit alliance of civic-minded businesses who are advancing solutions to boost civic engagement, reduce political polarization, and modernize government. A well-functioning representative democracy will help foster a more competitive, innovative business climate in America.

Bonk has over 20 years of experience in design, technology, and leadership at Fortune 500 companies, with expertise in strategy, organizational development, communications, and project management. She spent nearly 15 years at Apple in the Software, Retail, and Marketing Communications divisions. In her last role, she served as senior manager of over 50 interactive designers and managers for Apple.com.

While serving as a pro bono consultant to several nonpartisan political reform and voter engagement organizations, Bonk recognized that no one was adequately making the business and economic case for overcoming our country's political dysfunction. She founded BFA with the idea that the business community's interests and the public interest are aligned in having a well-functioning republic. By adding a civic dimension to corporate social responsibility, we can engage purpose-driven businesses and civic-minded business leaders in the movement for change.

In light of the coronavirus pandemic and upcoming elections, BFA is mobilizing businesses to advocate for the health of their employees and communities by expanding access to vote by mail and ensuring the safety of in-person voting. In addition, BFA is organizing businesses to provide human, technical, equipment, and other resources to support state and local governments. Businesses can help in a variety of ways from supplying skilled technical assistance, recruiting election administration volunteers, offering business facilities, helping with logistics, transporting poll workers, and providing necessary equipment and supplies.
