Dr. Lara Jacobson is a pediatrician who works for Pediatrics Emergency Medicine Associates. Previously she was the director of health promotion for Georgia Department of Public Health and before that, the Executive Director of Emergency USA.

Dr. Lara Jacobson is a pediatrician and epidemiologist with experience in humanitarian emergencies. She completed her medical degree at Stanford Medical School, and has worked as an Attending Physician in high-acuity settings. During her work at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Jacobson responded to humanitarian emergencies in Haiti, Kenya, Djibouti, Chad, India, and Nepal. She has additional training in disaster management from IFRC.

Emergency USA (E-USA) is a non-profit that provides high quality free-of-charge medical care for civilian victims in war-torn countries, such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Sierra Leone and Sudan.

E-USA has provided assistance to over 6 million people around the world all at no charge. The work of Emergency was depicted in the short documentary film "Open Heart", directed by Kief Davidson and was nominated for an Oscar in the recent 2013 Academy Awards.
