As we begin the second week of our campaign asking CBS to pull the anti-choice Super Bowl ad sponsored by Focus on the Family, we are also increasing the pressure on the NFL to step in and pressure CBS to drop the ad. Here’s our “Top 10 Reasons the NFL Should Tell CBS to Scrap the Ad.”
- Religious confessionals should be reserved for Sunday morning. Game time is 6:30pm.
- Two rules for my Super Bowl party: No double dipping. No double standards.
- The NFL has already got women cornered with the cheerleaders, beer ads, and pink fitted jerseys.
- Chips and guacamole – not Doritos and morality.
- Don’t need Monday morning quarterbacking on my reproductive health decisions.
- I know someone who had an abortion – and I stand by her choice.
- We couldn’t even deal with Janet Jackson’s nipple, how are we going to manage abortion?
- The NFL would never allow a network to show obvious bias between the Saints and the Colts, and they shouldn’t allow it with choice.
- Abortion’s a serious issue. I’d like to be sober when discussing.
- The last thing we need is CBS, the NFL, or their advertisers telling us when and how to have a family.

Isn’t the purpose of an ad to sell something? What is it in fact they are selling with such an ad? Women’s rights? My rights, are not for sale and my choices are not up for discussion and neither should anyone elses be.
I would much rather see an ad for pro-choice or pro-life rather then watch a musician that has been convicted of buying child pornography perform during the the half time show.
Yes, abortion is a serious issue that should not be part of the super bowl at all but neither should child porn.
Because I don’t give a flying crap who wins the Super Bowl but I happen to mind my uterus being brought into the equation. STEP OFF, CBS and NFL.
In a down economy I can understand CBS’ desire to increase revenue and take on ads they would otherwise, and wisely, reject – but this one will come back to haunt them, big time, and for a long time. Every woman who is like me (and there are a whole lot of us) will see to it.
I support the Tebow’s in telling their story whatever it is.
The Tebow ad may be based on an untruth: abortion was illegal where and when Mrs.
Tebow says she was told to abort. Is CBS doing this to signal to all organizations that it is open for business, bring on your big bucks for political and issues advertising? CBS has said it would consider ads from opposing points of view, then it has said there are no more slots available – can it tell the truth?
Neither Tim Tebow or his mother has a medical degree.
Abortion is a medical decision between a woman and her doctor.
when women are the key owners, managers and players for the NFL, then we can talk about showing this ad. until then it has NO businness on the air.
The FCC prohibits ads that include false information. This woman can produce no credible evidence that she was advised to abort…and in fact that likelihood is incredible since her illness/medication bore only a moderate risk to her and her fetus and abortions in the phillipines at that time were illegal and carried a 6 yr. jail sentence for the doctor. Unless she can produce any evidence that her claim as any basis in fact, the FCC should ban it.
1. The NFL is not a human rights or health care industry. This is the wrong audience for this discussion.
2. The NFL and the government have NO BUSINESS discussing or even thinking about MY uterus. Please vacate now.
3. This is a human rights issue, woman’s fertility issue, not a sporting event issue.
4. My religious convictions are mine, protected under the constitution. I don’t run my dogma on anyone else, nor should they run it on me. It’s the LAW.
5. Truth in advertising:
Tebow’s mother isn’t telling the truth about her life in the Philippines, where abortion is ILLEGAL and has been for a VERY LONG TME, before the event of the Tebow foetus. IF medical personnel advised her or discussed abortion, both would be tossed in jail.
6. The Super Bowl is about FOOTBALL, not Foetuses.
7. Selling this agenda furthers the abusive and oppressive patriarchal structures women have fought long and hard to become independent from.
8. It is against CBS policies. (Perhaps CBS is now Christian Bull Shit?)
9. I’ve had to make the choice to abort, twice. It was not easy either time. It was a painful, personal, moral, and ethical decision that was weighed heavily. It was MY choice. If there is a “god” then it will be a discussion between me and the maker when the time comes, and no one else’s.
10. If these MEN and their subservient women were so fucking concerned about ABORTION, perhaps they should realize that the real question lies in responsibility for SEXUAL behaviors. That means YOU boys. Manage your pee-pees.
It’s especially insulting to have this ad air during a male dominated sports game…and I’m a diehard female football fan at that.
My 7-year-old son will be watching. I don’t want to be forced to explain abortion to him yet!
Considering all the children that will be subject to the Superbowl ads, this is in extremely poor taste. They are already selling the cheerleaders (that’s why probably 90% of guys watch the Superbowl in the first place!). The fact that they have been considering showing this very poor ad, notwithstanding the fact that his mother lived in the Phillipines and abortions were totally totally illegal in the first place (no doctor would even have suggested it), I shall boycott the games now permanently. I would applaud their showing it IF they showed anti-war ads, too, and a pro-choice ad. If they are pro-life, then they SURELY are against war.
If a “family” event cannot deal with Janet Jackson’s breast, why should CBS force families to be exposed to a hate group? (Focus on the Family has been unrelenting in its misogyny and hatred toward LGBT citizens. Its founder, Dobson, also brags about how he beat his dog into submission so that he could control him.)
If the ad does air, then executives at CBS should have to come forth and tell how many of their wives, girlfriends, sisters, and daughters have had abortions. If there ARE any female executives, they need to come forward, too.
No testosterone-fueled event should be the platform for an estrogen-based debate.
Abortion is LEGAL. If religious views are to be advertised at football games, make equal time for the Buddhists, Muslims, Hebrews, Hindus, etc.
This ad sends the message that it is a good thing for a woman to completely ignore the medical advice of her physicians. Mrs. Tebow is very fortunate that she did not have serious and fatal complications that may have left her dead and her four children motherless. She had the opportunity to make this crazy choice and she, and Focus on the Family, should allow for ALL women to make their OWN choices surrounding this issue.
my 10 reasons
1. The NFL is a true model for respect with an example of humanity like Michael Vick onboard.
2. Pro football players can truly relate to a woman in need during pregnancy.
3. Cheerleading has a history of paving the way for women’s rights. i.e. Amelia Earhart…Georgia O’Keefe.
4. Football is the leading cause of peace in war zones.
5. Men are more powerful.
6. Ted Haggard is a precious leader.
7. Because football might end the war in Afghanistan.
8. Super Bowl ads remind people to eat junk, get drunk and paint your faces.
9. Women are the weaker sex so we must listen to men more.
10. Do they not know that we can have an abortion without the help of a man?
When my insurance provider lists the NFL as “in-network”, i’ll seek their medical advice.
Who would think that the network that brought us “The Dukes of Hazzard”, “Dallas”, “Simon and Simon”, “Designing Women”, and “Murder She Wrote” is concerned about our eternal souls. They couldn’t even manage to entertain us.
I’ll make it easier…when my insurance provider lists the NFL and/or CBS as “in-network”, I will certainly make an appointment.
We allow all kinds of shows on television that make woman out to be woman with no brain, all dressed sexually, very promiscuous.
They hop into bed with anyone that is male or not They are not shown not to have any traits that you would allow your daughter to want to emmulate. The woman are not strong, confident and have to compromise their morals to get ahead. Why are we letting that happen? You are upset about something Focus on the Family is putting out when most of the commercials do not depict woman in a good light. All boobs, and all sex. So why is that alright? I do not agree with all the things that Focus on the Family deals with but they do provide help for families dealing with hundreds of issues that a ton of organizations do not have the funds to deal with. They have a help line and send material free to those in need. They also try to provide support in the area you live in.They provide a lot of help for woman and stay at home moms. So I am not going to support this. Just wanted to say that I do not agree with your stand. I think you are narrowing it to one commercial when you could of picked from so much more that is an offence to woman. We do need to have more shows. commercials that show woman in a positive light. We are surrounded with ads, billboards that show you have to be thin, beautiful and a bab to be successfulEducated, smart, able to make healthy choices, having a voice, not being abused and able to do anything they dream to work towards. Woman can dress classy and get a job for their skills nor for sleeping their way to the top. That is the image I want my daughter to see.
Because I am a US citizen with full legal rights, and I have a right to control my own body and my own reproductive decisions. I don’t need a right wing quarterback or his mom to give me advice or to interfere with my decisions.
Because I support Pam Tebow’s choice not to have an abortion… choice being the operative term.
1) If this is the Tebow’s mom’s story of how she gave birth in the Philippines and was advised by filipino doctors to have an abortion. Then there are problems with the story. 80-85% of the filipino population are Roman Catholic. Abortion has been illegal since 1930’s till today, with No exceptions to save a woman’s life. There is a prison term for the woman or physician connected with abortions there. – This would greatly offend the Filipino population and could result in a lawsuit. If CBS airs the commercial anyway they are truly adopting the extreme far right’s lack of ability to honor and respect other human beings, cultures and religious beliefs.
2)In 2005 James Dobson of Focus in the Family accused Spongebob SquarePants of promoting Homosexuality. Do you really want to allign yourself with a nutcase like this.
3)CBS is offending large groups of the population by choosing one over the other is not good business?
11. I had an abortion and I do NOT regret it.
Here’s my letter to the editor published in Chicago Tribune.
http://archives.chicagotribune.com/2009/nov/27/opinion/chi-1127vplettersbriefs8nov27
Here’s my full abortion story and my small start to collect other stories of women who do NOT regret their abortion.
http://idontregretmyabortion.blogspot.com/
Mrs. Tebow made a choice and it turned out to be the right one in her case. I’m very happy for her, although skeptical about her being pressured one way or the other. It was probably more like, “here are your options and statistics. Please let us know your decision.” Which to any pro-lifer is immediately interpreted as EVIL SECULAR DOCTORS DEMANDING AN ABORTION!
Tim is a wonderful human being. Let the rest of America make their own choices, just like how she had her own opportunity. Will they be able to live with knowing that other mothers (and babies) in the same situation died because they made the wrong choice?
What she went through is very, very serious and the possible treatments, outcomes, and moral implications should not be debated over commercial time during the Super Bowl! It is the wrong venue. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Placental_abruption
The Tebows story should be told.
By agreeing to air this obviously controversial spot, CBS is taking a stand. Media buyers take note. I know I will be keeping this in mind as I advise my clients in the future.
Top 10 reasons they should give up the ad? It’s about money – the number one reason is because I can easily give up NCIS if they don’t.
If I want to air an ad in favor of choice, CBS will turn me down. Fairness is important.
CBS is full of hypocrisy because they have refused to air ads from MoveOn and PETA, because they felt these orgs had controversial messages…then they give the green light to the Focus on the Family ad.
FOF is anti-choice, anti-gay, racist and promotes only one religion; evangelical Chrisitianity. The Super Bowl is not the place for any social. religious and political agenda.
I take issue with Tebow because he is another sexist , arrogant , hypocritical religious jerk who would take away my repro rights in a flash if he could. The Super Bowl is not the place for his agenda.
And now it is coming to light that his saved from abortion story is not completely accurate.
CBS shows how sexist they are and what they think of women by agreeing to air this ad. They are also incredibly stupid to air this ad because it is making the Super Bowl political and contentious. We should just be able to watch the Super Bowl without having religious/political agendas shoved down our throats. Don’t we have enough of that already?
CBS really disgusts me and I sure let them have it. I also sic’d about 100 of my friends on them too. Hope all you do the same.
I like what someone else said: If some other organization wanted to run an ad during this football show that was pro-choice, CBS would turn it down. If it would not run one, it should not run the other. Maybe someone from a pro-choice organization like Planned Parenthood should contact CBS hypothetically to see if it would agree to run a pro-choice add, if Planned Parenthood decided to purchase the time. And then write down the reasons CBS advertising division gave them for refusing to run the ad… and then play those reasons back to CBS!
I don’t need to know the Tebows story…because, guess what…my mother talked to me about life, abortion, and my right to choose. She also told me HER story. The most important HERstory in MY life! My mother’s immediate reaction to finding out she was expecting her (and my father’s) third child during their separation (and ultimate divorce) was to terminate the pregnancy. She did not. That’s wonderful for her. And me. And my family. But it has tiddly winks to do with anyone else. It doesn’t have a damn thing to do with most of the people that will read this…and it certainly doesn’t affect Tim or Pam Tebow. Why do I need to learn about them and their very, very personal family history? They don’t give two Tebows about me.
In the end…that story (of my mother’s decision to keep me) has made women’s choice a very complex issue for me. I PERSONALLY believe life begins at conception. Guess what – one of my sisters doesn’t, and the other has never really thought about it. We’re three different people with very different ideas, all from one household. But I would never in my life tell my sister that she doesn’t deserve to live her own life and make her own decisions. As a matter of fact, I would find it difficult to even create a system under which I make all of her choices for her. My life is complicated enough with all the crap I have to think about and my own decisions. NO ONE…and I repeat, NO ONE…has the right to tell me what to do. Especially when it comes to a legal medical decision. So long as people can smoke, drink, and gamble, I don’t give a shit what Pam Tebow or CBS wish to tell me about caring for a child. My mother raised me. It was a job she took so seriously that she actually created a relatively intelligent woman.
If you’re concerned with the quality of person being raised in this country, I would absolutely suggest you begin with your own children. What’s that saying…oh, yes: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
My advice to the super uptight, obnoxious, hypocrites that want to tell me and my family what to do – start with your own family. If we create well-informed, upstanding citizens, there is no one needs to preach to anyone else.
The end.
I joined this website because it had the best Mother’s Day e-video I’d ever seen. Isn’t it ironic that, just because a commercial is celebrating the right choice for one family, this website feels THREATENED by a testimonial from a proud mother? What ever happened to Free Speech in America? Contraceptive Pills, Viagra and Cialis have more rights? Pu-lease. Surely, feminists are stronger than this.
If the CBS corporate can tell us who God has picked for the winner of the Superbowl … then it’s okay with me if they run pro-Christian wacko anti-abortion ads without allowing other viewpoints.
Abortion is a serious issue. It’s a difficult issue. It’s, in individual cases, and embarrassing issue. I had an abortion long long ago when I was just a child myself, having made poor decisions. I’ve also had two children, as an adult, whom mean the absolute world to me. I do not regret my children. And, I do not regret my abortion. It was the right decision to make for myself. I do not support people and organizations who want to tell women what to do with their bodies.
On a side note…all this publicity over the CBS/Super Bowl Ad has simply created free advertising on the subject. Hummmm…
Everyone whining about this issue needs to get a life.
If you don’t want to watch it, turn it off.
It’s no different than pornography, strong violence, and crude language.
I don’t like child inappropriate words or actions, but everyone has a freedom of speech.
Welcome to America!!
Fundamentalists believe they are absolutely right and are sanctioned by God. They live in fear of being open-minded because they think an open mind is like idle hands: the “devil’s workshop”. They are “saved”: their sins are cleansed. They are so right, so perfectly superior/supremacist that they are unable to see their own faults, hypocricies, sins. This logic is the source of all supremacy, misogyny, hypocrisy, bigotry, imperialism, despotism, bellicosity, racism, nationalism…and so on. They believe they are free to do anything they want to people they consciously define to be a threat or a non-believer or unpatriotic or whatever they choose.
This is how fundamentalists think. How they think governs how they act.
Our country is supposedly founded on equality and civil/human rights for all people/citizens. But fundamentalists do not respect the tradition of separation of church and state. Nor do they respect the Constitution; after all, fundamentalists once broke away from “the Union”, burned women they claimed to be witches, fought the crusades, held inquisitions, became dictators and despots…fundamentalism, not money, is the root of all evil .
1-Under the fair access doctrine, if they are going to accept one advocacy ad they need to accept others but they have already rejected one for GLBT rights
2-If the NFL is going to get into human rights issues they should be pressed to put as much attention on battering and sexual assualt, a slight rise in both has historically been shown to correlate with the Super Bowl
3-Both CBS and the NFL have celar male domination in their decision-making/policy/ownership ranks and should be following female voices to make this decision which they obviously did not.
4-Continuing on the course of airing the ad is the stuff of whipping up a boycott of their network (except for watching Katie Couric of course) among those of us who are angered by this
5-They are not interested in presenting the stories of thousands of women who are faced everyday with for sexual intercouse and the unintended pregnancies that result, to say nothing of the thousands of children now raising children thanks to a failed just abstain campaign
6-If they want to divert attention from all the violence and lawlessness among football players (read Michael Vic) they should be seeking ads about responsible male behavior
7-Our is not a mono-theistic society and Mr. Tebow with his under eye bible verse numbers pushes Christianity in a way that makes it seem so
8-It is just plain wrong
I suggest all who care about this, if you are still going to watch the Super Bowl ( and I hope not if they persist) will turn the channel when this ad comes on, in fact turn during every commerical and spread the word.
Lets get real. I think it’s about time someone actually stood up and did the right thing. Abortions for the right reason would be acceptable. But they are not there for these people to go screw around and then get pregnant because they didn’t use protection.. So the easiest thing is to go murder and innocent baby… If you don’t want the baby put it up for adoption 9 months later. Don’t kill the poor little thing. These kinds of people are no better than the criminals that are housed in our hard core jails now…
Face the fact life starts at conception, not later down the road….. So GO CBS!!!!!!!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/linda-basch/how-about-a-super-bowl-su_b_162989.html
could they spend their money on some education and condom distribution and antiDV talk
It makes sense that CBS (Christian Bull Shit was exactly what I was thinking, too) would air this ad during the Super Bowl, which is already a fairly misogynist event. They are making it clear that they are biased, and if FOX can get away with it, why not CBS ? They won’t tell the story of the many women who died as a result of botched illegal abortions, or the millions of children raised in abject poverty because the mothers were forced to have more children than they could afford.
The ad is custom made for the obnoxios, holier-than-thou, keep-women-down crowd. From their point of view, the only possible reason to scrap the ad is that they may have underestimated how much they are pissing off the rest of us, and a boycott will ensue.
Most people in the United States believe it is wrong to take the life of another person. With medical advances now enabling a fetus of 16 to 20 weeks gestation to live, what do we call an abortion at 16 to 20 weeks? Logic tells us it is taking the life of a person. The above statements are not religious statements. The facts are there. Abortion is taking the life of a human being.
As a Christian I believe in the sanctity of human life be it 16 weeks, 16 years of 116 years. No human has the right to take another life. The government is not a human being. It is an entity given the power of the sword for the good of the people. Hence, we have institutions for incarcerating those who take a life of another. We have police and military who by virtue of being a government authority have the power of the sword.
Maybe it is time to awaken the eyes and ears of people of our nation. Abortion is the taking of a human life. The fifth commandment tells us taking the life of someone is a sin. Life hasa been given to believer and nonbeliever by God. Only God has the right to end that life. But because He is a merciful God, He does forgive our sins, even the sin of abortion. Wake up America!
I think your 10 reasons are really superficial and not worthy of a serious and cogent message to an entity that has no regard for women and our worth. The ad is a sop to the far Right and nothing more – our response should take the form of exposing it for what it is. If we have to offer essentially trite statements we do ourselves no good whatsoever, nor can we ever persuade those who might not agree with us but might just listen if we offer substantive points.
With millions of people watching the SuperBowl, an add promoting the right to have all the abortions you want, or an add against abortions would at least serve a purpose to educate people, mostly males, that there’s a problem with getting women pregnant irresponsibly. I think an add to make us think for a change would be a compliment to the beer burping toad commercials. I’m for it.
The circumstances surrounding Mrs. Tebow’s abortion are the most objectionable part–doctors advised her to terminate her pregnancy for medical reasons. Tim Tebow is the outlier. In the vast majority of cases ignoring the medical advice of a qualified physician in favor of a dogmatic anti-choice belief will result in harm and even death to the mother and possibly the child. This ad is a public health risk and CBS should be legally liable for airing it.
It is outrageous that there is a possibility that this will be aired on TV. Abortion is ONLY a female issue end of story. What part of that do folks not understand? Only women can give birth. Forty weeks + forever is the time commitment. These fundamentalists should be required to adopt at least 2 humans that are languishing in our horrific foster care system and these children should be of color.
I have had a child and aborted one when my daughter was 5. My relationship fell apart and I was divorced from my child’s father (deadbeat). I have told my daughter since she could understand that if she wants to procreate she must be able to support that child ON HER OWN, give 5000% forever! It really has turned out that women have to get real about having children; so often it is all up to us to do the work. Bottom line; Woman’s issue; men do not get a vote or even to discuss unless formally invited to speak.
In the U.S. now, 1 out of 3 girls under age 20 become pregant (how often raped?!), and considering 1out of 5 female college students are raped -is that what God wants and some organized religious groups wants to add further cruelty inflicted on those barely beginning adulthood?!?
Per president-elect leaders of the First Freedom First organization’s letter to President Obama: “Recent polls have underscored the value of America’s unique religious liberty protections…while Americans respect the right of religious groups to address the issues of the day, they believe in equal treatment and do not want to see the views of one group elevated over all others. The grand measure of liberty Americans enjoy would not be possible without the twin guarantees of religious freedom found in our First Amendment. -Rev. Barry W. Lynn and Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy.
I’m going to catch hell from some of you, but that’s ok. I see some of your comments, as well as the “Top Ten List” as a bit hypocritical. You argue for a woman’s right to choose about her body and abortion, but in your next breath you want to limit or restrict the ability of those who disagree with your views? Where are THEIR rights? What are YOU afraid of? Are you afraid that someone might change their mind and choose to give birth and not abort a pregnancy? Is that really a bad thing? My thought is pretty simple. If those who want to fund this commercial pay for the air time because they think it will reach their target audience better, what does it really matter? Does it change YOUR views or are you afraid it might? I’ve always been told that the best way to ensure and solidify your own beliefs is to listen to and discuss them with, people who have opposing views. If you’re curious and want to see what Tim Tebow has to say, watch the commercial and see if it raises any questions in your own mind and then do more research to make an informed choice. If you’re sure of what you believe, then just hit the mute button once you see Tim Tebow, or go to the bathroom, get another beer or some more food and ignore what he has to say. If you’re really all about choice, then you must allow for the decision to continue the pregnancy as one of the acceptable choices. The “list” is just crap thrown up by the author because they don’t seem to want a woman to know that continuing the pregnancy is a choice, as well.
In 77 years of living I have never known or heard of any woman of wealth carrying through with an unwanted pregnancy. Or a wealthy man who tollerated one either.
I also think that changing the terminology will ultimately make a huge difference. Pregnancy termination may be longer but it has no buzz to it.
You might want to think about that.
As far as the men of CBS/Football are concerned – how about a lovely batch of warm brownies baked with a few cubes of x-lax for flavor?
I don’t watch football, but I do watch the news and although they claim the word “abortion” is not mentioned in the ad, the message is clear enough. The pro-sex sports arena is not the venue for an anti-abortion campaign. I missed Janet’s nipple–could we possibly have a re-run during the Tebow ad?
The best quote to spring from the feminist movement:
“If MEN got pregnant, abortion would be elevated to SACRAMENT.”
I have four burners going for dinner or I’d google for certainty, but I think we have
Gloria Steinhem to thank for the words that pierced my soul when I heard them. And
deep in my heart, I KNOW SHE IS RIGHT.
Who thinks that a sexual indiscretion by a pro Hockey, Basketball, Football, Baseball… athlete would find him putting his sportstar life on hold for the REST OF HIS LIFE… Indeed, it’s doubtful it would happen. Medical Ab would be an accepted medical procedure on the male reproductive system. As surely as the corner doctor’s office has become Viaga Falls with insurance companies willing to pay for this medicine… the gentlemen would get paid leave when they need an Ab and not have to check their dignity at any door.
I THINK WE SHOULD CREATE A NEW CAMPAIGN: MUTE CBS COMMERCIALS! And not just for the Super Bowl. If they run the ad we should commit to 1) TiVo’ing all CBS shows in the future (if we ever watch CBS again) so we can fast forward through commercials; 2) MUTE all commercials for ALL shows on CBS in the future.
I am a Superbowl fan and I will turn CBS off if they choose to air this ad. I will not watch any of the advertisers if they cannot keep such topics off of the air during such a family, community and friendly event.
You guys are ridiculous. Unreasonable feminists like yourselves are the people who make it difficult for any woman to be taken seriously. As for this ad, I don’t know what you find so offensive. Out of the 1,000+ players in the NFL, one who is different from the rest is asked to tell his story. Why is that so scary to you? This abortion holocaust that has sadly become more and more acceptable is leading to a multitude of other problems. Over the next 30 years or so, the elderly population is expected to outweigh the youth by three times. That’s astronomical, and a huge reason for that is abortion. Moreover, don’t you care about the health problems abortion creates for women who have them? I think your stance against life is hypocritical by far since your “concern” for women manages to leave out the link made between abortion and breast cancer. Also, I’d like to point out that all of you pro-abortion (or “pro-choice” as you call yourselves) have already been born. Those are two major points of hypocrisy on your behalf, and really.. if you don’t want to watch a commercial, treat it like you would any other time and just don’t watch it. Nobody’s taking away your right to change the channel.
Do you think you would you have supported your mother had she aborted you? Double standard my ass. Air a pro life ad if you are so afraid. This never was issue of woman’s rights, its an issue of human life. You are an egotistical self-centered bitch, and I hope I never have to deal with the displeasure of meeting you. Good day.
TO EVERYONE WHO SAYS TEBOW IS LYING:
Who are you kidding? Do you really think doctors don’t recommend abortions in places where they are illegal? Was abortion never recommended before it was legal? Of course it could have been recommended, especially to someone who is an American citizen and could come here to have the abortion. Abortion would never have been legalized if it wasn’t recommended when it was illegal. Shame on you for saying she should have to show proof that she was advised this way. Would you ask a woman who claimed she was advised to have an abortion and had one to prove that her doctor said it was a good idea? Never.
I have read through every comment on this page and here is my two cents worth. Those of you that are offended by the ad need to look at it from both sides. You complain about being subjected to the abortion issue during a male dominated event. Don’t men have something to do with getting women pregnant in the first place? This is not just trying to reach women but men also. Maybe it will make them think twice about having sex irresponsibly. There is no 100% full proof birth control except abstinance. On the statement that you think they shouldn’t air something as controversial as this during the super bowl, I think that is pretty narrow minded. Don’t you think homosexuality is a controversial topic? Look how many shows on TV are promoting this lifestyle and all of those who watch are having it “pushed down their throat” as you say. All by the same CBS you are condeming forr airing a pro-life ad. Isn’t that supporting more than just the “Christian” point of view. While I do support the fact that they are airing the ad I don’t support the ad, don’t watch. Take a snack break or go to the bathroom. It is your CHOICE! We are in America and we all have the right to free speech wether we like what the other person has to say or not.
You should have thought about the time commitment before you let some guy get all over your body. Murder is murder is murder.
You act like CBS will hypnotize women into not having an abortion. This is not a some congressman saying do not have an abortion, this is a women who made a CHOICE. Isn’t that what most people who fight for abortion rights call themselves? Or are they Pro-abortion like thy claim they are not. If you want to debate abortion, then there are other times for that. But Tebow’s mother made a CHOICE. Instead of organizations, that claim to be for womans right and womans choice, bashing her, they should be applauding her decision to have a child like she wanted. That is why I do not understand companies like WMC, and NARAL. They both claim to protect womans rights. But as you can tell, they only protect the women that agree with them. It is embarrassing. They should be behind Tebow’s mother for raising a child into a superstar football player. They should be applauding that after all she has done she has finally has a chance to tell her story.
I think WMC should be more open minded instead of being so judgmental of Focus On The Family! You have the right to express your views and of course you probably expect people to respect them. So WMC should be respect what they have to say even if you don’t agree with it. WMC calls them being anti this and anti that but you’re the ones who are being closed minded and JUDGMENTAL!! It seems WMC is afraid of having a great discussions but all they are good at is BASHING those who oppose them! I’m glad the commercial is being aired!!!
“it would be illegal to have an abortion in the Phillippines”-She could have easily caught a flight back to the US
“male dominated events (the Super Bowl) have no right to talk about women’s issues”-feel free to ban Maxipad commercials from all but Oxygen.
