Making Women Visible And Powerful In The Media Women's Media Center

Fox & Friends Showdown

DontSitontheSidelines“Focus on Family is using the Super Bowl to fool Americans into believing that their agenda is not controversial when it actually is. This organization has supported fake crisis pregnancy centers that provide medical misinformation, they provide negative pregnancy testing, fake ultrasounds… They say they’re about family but only if it’s their style of family. They say they’re about faith, but only if it’s their style of faith.” –Jehmu Greene, President of the Women’s Media Center, Fox & Friends.

After Jehmu’s comments, President and CEO of Focus on the Family Jim Daly proudly boasted that his New Year’s resolution was to raise the debate and “inspire moms to think about the decisions before them” …. as if women aren’t already thinking?!  He then pointed out that Jehmu’s mother could have aborted her, but didn’t.

I think Jehmu Greene spoke very very very well. She spoke with honesty and integrity. Heart of Light.
That other guy repeatedly lied with a smile on his face.

I hope you all know life goes on after conception and the first year of a baby’s life. It would be more interesting if Focus on Family really cared about families.

Not a spirited debate but rather sedate and pleasant. Not sure what the deal is with crisis pregnancy centers but all of the ones I have been involved with give out accurate information on the gestation of a child. Nothing more, nothing less. I thought this piece was respectful of both participants and that the participants were respectful of one another. I have not seen the commercial set to air during the super bowl but rest assured I don’t think it will be as controversial as some would make it out to be. If we, as a society, call ourselves Pro-Choice then we have to be open to all choices, including the choice of giving life.

Why don’t pro choice put an ad in Super Bowl instead of griping?

Mr. Vitale, What lies would you be referring to? I didn’t see anybody lie. I saw two people with different views giving their opinions. Is an opinion a lie if it doesn’t fit yours?

I think that Ms. Greene spoke well and was very honest. Mr. Daly avoided the real issues by saying they are a “christian based organization”. Christian based does not mean that you can lie about everything and place people in danger by giving them medical misinformation. Also his position, to hope that everyone chooses life is the attitude that keeps people in extreme poverty.

I am curious. Is there going to be any effort made to prove or disprove the claims made about Focus On The Family by Ms Greene? It is not fair to air a story without holding the participants accountable for their words. Either the accusations were true or they were lies, but either way Fox News owes it to it’s viewers to give them the whole story by looking into the accusations and then reporting on the truth concerning them. That is what being ‘fair and balanced’ demands.

Being closely involved in a crisis pregnancy center (My wife is a director of one) I am amused at the amount of mis-information NARAL and Planned Parenthood are disseminating. I suppose I shouldn’t be terribly surprised – after all these are people that kill children for a living. There really is no honor amongst thieves and murderess is there? And before those opposed to the pro-life position get all frothy at the mouth, why don’t you take the time to actually read the various legislation being proposed by not only the Obama administration via the Health Care debacle but also by some of the states. Washington State is voting on legislation soon to severely restrict the activities of these Crisis Pregnancy Centers. Again, don’t froth, read!

For the record I am and have been working at a local pregnancy center for six years. I have not nor would I ever lie to someone who comes into our center for help. I have been trained to help and encourage the women. I consider it a huge responsibility and a privilege to serve these women. It is truly an incredible experience every time I am able to perform an ultrasound and share this very personal time with someone. I have not nor would I be able to mis-lead these women who are in need of physical, emotional, and spiritual help. What I do is not motivated by an agenda, ideology, or scheme but my motives and intentions are based on love and compassion for others.

How life saving it will be the day being pro-life means being pro-family the way that pro-choice proposes the idea that a woman is against family. I choose life but I believe woman who don’t often have zero support. Any crisis pregnancy center I’ve ever been to, Christian based included, has solely provided facts without their opinions or ideas. I don’t see an issue with the commercial and the debate makes pro-choicers just look like they’re not pro-choice but pro-abortion.
