VelvetPark’s Offical Top 25 Most Significant Queer Women of 2009 features former WMC Vice President Glennda Testone as their Community Organizer of the year! Now the director of the LGBT Community Center of New York, Glennda
helped lay the foundation for a major piece of New York LGBT legislation, the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act, which Governor David Patterson signed on December 16. Expanding the state’s non-discrimination law to include gender identity and expression, the Act is surely just a warm-up for Glennda as she continues her first year at the Center.
The list also includes SheSourcer Kate Kendell — who helped spearhead the fight against Proposition 8 — and WMC Media Awards Honoree Pam Spaulding, founder of the whistle-blowing blog Pam’s House Blend and LGBT rights site The Dallas Principals. To top it off, Glennda’s featured headshot was taken by the one and only WMC Video Production Consultant Leslie Von Pless.
