Making Women Visible And Powerful In The Media Women's Media Center

Pakistani Activist Shahnaz Bokhari

Yesterday the WMC was thrilled to host an event for Shahnaz Bokhari, a Pakastani activist for women’s rights and the founder of the Progressive Women’s Association.  Based in Islamabad, the PWA works to eliminate gender-based violence including honor killings, abuse, and the bartering of women.  Bokhari’s work with victims of burning and acid attacks was documented by Nicholas Kristof of The New York Times, and she was named one of the 21 Leaders of the 21st Century by Women’s E-News.  It was an honor to host such a courageous and influential activist.
