Ghada Jamshir, Bahraini women’s rights activist and an ardent campaigner for the reform of Sharia courts in Bahrain and the Arab Gulf states, is featured in a YouTube video on Muslim Women’s rights activist.
In 2006, Time Magazine profiled Jamshir as one of four heroes of freedom in the Arab world, as a divorcée with custody of her daughter who founded the Women’s Petition Committee, a grassroots organization campaigning for reform of Bahrain’s Shari’a court system.
