WMC Joins Women’s Media Group To Protest Washington Post’s “Mad Bitch” Clinton Comment

The Washington Post’s political journalists Dana Milbank and Chris Cillizza in “Mouthpiece Theater”

The Women’s Media Center has joined our colleagues from Women, Action & The Media (WAM!) to protest a satirical Washington Post video featuring reporters Dana Milbank and Chris Cillizza, which includes a reference to Secretary of State Clinton drinking a “Mad Bitch” beer. We jointly sent a letter to Washington Post Executive Editor Marcus Braunchli, which you can read here. Other signees include Adele Stan of Alternet, Jennifer Pozner of Women in Media & News, Katha Pollitt of The Nation, Ariel Dougherty of the Media Equity Collaborative and numerous other distinguished media professionals and activists. Several women from our Progressive Women’s Voices program signed the letter as well, including WMC Board Member Gloria Fledt, Veronica Arreola, Tracy Van Slyke, Ellen Bravo, and Jaclyn Friedman, Director of WAM!.

The Columbia Journalism Review’s Greg Marx has a great think piece of the ethics of retraction involved and noted media critic Michael Calderone noted the letter on his blog on Politico.
