Our Progressive Women’s Voices member Jaclyn Friedman has an important column out today called “This Is What Rape Culture Looks Like.” In it she details the allegations against Superbowl-winning Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. A woman has alleged that she was raped by Roethlisberer. The premiere sports broadcasting franchise in the U.S., ESPN, appears to have issued a “do not report” order on the story, and is claiming that this order is in place because no criminal case has yet been filed. Some prominent sports blogs are skeptical. Jaclyn’s piece ends with a link to take action. We encourage you to do so! Let ESPN know what you think.

    It’s not exactly the news that you’d like to hear. But when I do hear about rape I always feel for the victim. I guess most people do. However, we can’t really say who is in the wrong without a strong evidence. Has this been resolved?
