Laura Ling and Euna Lee were on assignment for Current TV in China. On March 17th they were arrested by two North Korean guards. Since then, these two U.S. journalists have been held in solitary confinement by the North Korean government and have not been allowed contact with their families. Laura and Euna will be going on trial for charges of spying and “hostile acts” on June 4th in North Korea. As this news has not really received national attention, the candlelight vigils are to shine light on to their story.

The line between journalism and espionage is very fine. Having been a journalist once myself, I understand the predicament. My heart goes out to those women. I hope they are released soon.
